At least 25 killed as blast targets Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri’s vehicle in Mastung


MASTUNG: At least 25 people were killed and over a dozen injured when a roadside blast hit the convoy of JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri here on Friday. The JUI-F leader got injured and shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him out of danger.  

Media reports said that at least 25 people, including the driver of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri were killed while over a dozen including the deputy chairman of Senate were injured in the attack.

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor speaking to media said that he had sustained injuries. However, by the grace of Allah I am fine now. The explosion was huge, he added. I am saddened over the loss of lives of my aides.

Sources said that blast targeted the vehicle carrying Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, who boarded the car after coming out of a Mosque, where a ceremony was held with regard to ‘dastarbandi’.

Police said bodies and injured have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Mastung. According to correspondent in Mastung, emergency has been declared at the hospital.

Police said that the critically injured were being shifted to Quetta.

Security forces have cordoned off the area.
