Dialogue only way to resolve Kashmir issue: Mushahid Hussain

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Secretary General and Senator, Mushahid Hussain Syed Monday said that empowered, educated and engaged youth could play vital role to resolve national and regional conflicts.

Addressing the closing ceremony of a four-days training workshop on enhancing youth political participation in AJK, he said that Indian and Pakistan had to revive dialogue on all bilateral outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir.

The workshop was organized by Centre for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) in collaboration with British Council (BC), said a press release issued here.

Government of Pakistan and political parties’ heads should not interfere in upcoming election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), he added.

Free and fair elections in Azad Kashmir must be ensured by the Election Commission of AJK and Federal government should also ensure transparency on the refugee seats located in Pakistan, he added.

Mushaid Hussain Syed said, “neither India can keep whole Kashmir under control by force nor Pakistan is in position to take it by force.”

“Both neighbours need to resolve the issue through dialogue,” he added. Mushahid said that Kashmir was among top national priorities of Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership should be included in all level of discussions and negotiation on Kashmir.

Besides Senator Mushahid, Ambassador Arif Kamal, CPDR Executive Director Ershad Mahmud, Dr. Waqas Ali Kausar director of this program, young political activist Raja Mansoor Khan, Sabohi Ali of British Council and others, also addressed the ceremony.

It was forth workshop in the series of workshops and policy dialogue wherein around 32 young leaders from AJK, Gilgit Baltistan and Srinagar actively participated.
