Imam beaten to death inside mosque in India’s Ajmer city

In another shocking Islamophobic incident, a prayer leader (Imam) has been murdered inside a mosque in India.

Media reports said that 30-year-old prayer leader Mohammad Mahir was sitting in the mosque with his students when three unknown masked persons entered the premises and tortured him to death in Ajmer city of India’s northwestern Rajasthan state.

Police said the incident took place on Saturday morning when the prayer leader (Imam Sahib) was present in the mosque along with some students.

The accused allegedly entered the mosque and assaulted the prayer leader of the mosque with sticks and then fled, police said.

They said Mohammad Mahir was seriously injured due to the attack and died of his injuries. The reason for the murder has not yet been ascertained.

Police have registered the murder case under the Section 302 and are identifying the killers through CCTV footage.
