The emergency session of the UN Security Council, called after Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel, was adjourned after the formalities.

Addressing the emergency session of the Security Council, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that the use of force against the territorial integrity of any state is prohibited.

He said that the Middle East is on the brink of collapse as the region is facing the threat of a catastrophic war and the time has come to reduce tension and show more restraint.

Antonio Guterres said that the ceasefire in Gaza, the unconditional release of hostages and the provision of aid are the shared responsibility of all.

During the meeting, US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood said that the Security Council should condemn Iran’s aggressive actions and that the Security Council should stop attacks by Iran and its partners.

He said that America will take more steps to make Iran accountable in the future in the United Nations. If Iran or its agents act against America or Israel then Iran will be held responsible, he added.

Speaking at the Security Council meeting, British Ambassador to the United Nations Barbara Woodward said that the UK will stand up for Israel’s security, Jordan and Iraq’s regional partners after Iran’s attack.

He said that Britain is working with the international community to prevent further escalation and stabilize the situation.

In the meeting, the French delegate said that Iran and its allies should not create instability in the region.

Ambassador of Iran Amir Saeid Iravani said that the Israeli military targets were attacked with drones and missiles in response to the Israeli aggression, adding that the operation was completely in self-defense.

He described the behavior of America, Britain and France as hypocritical and said that these countries have not only been protecting Israel from the responsibility of the massacre in Gaza for several months, but they have also been justifying the genocide of the Palestinian people.

He warned that if the US starts military action against Iran then Tehran will use the right of response.
