LONDON: United Nations Organization has cancelled advisory status of two African NGOs over Pakistan’s plea.  Local media reported that Pakistan asked the UN that the two African NGOs were working against Pakistan’s sovereignty and  solidarity.

Sources said that the two NGOs were allegedly supporting Mehran Baloch and other insurgents in Balochistan and other areas. Earlier in the Committee session, Pakistan had lodged a complaint that the NGOs had violated ECOSOC Resolution 1996/31 by engaging in ‘politically motivated’ acts against member States. The NGOs were accused of making statements at a recent Human Rights Council session on the situation in Baluchistan province and other areas in Pakistan which used ‘language not authorized in UN’ and which made ‘unsubstantiated allegations at Pakistan in violation of their mandate’.
