JI warns of laying siege to punjab assembly

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq on Friday said that the salaries of government employees should have been increased by at least 30 per cent while the minimum wage of labourers should have been fixed at Rs30,000.

In his reaction on the federal budget on Twitter, the JI chief said that the budget is completely silent on the fulfillment of PTI’s manifesto and promises.

He added that budgets with artificial indicators have nothing to do with ground realities. Nowhere in the budget speech did it look like the economy was going to grow. He added that no clear programme had been put in place to tackle inflation and unemployment.

He further said that the high external debt and interest had broken the back of the masses. Out of the total budget, Rs3,060 billion will be spent on interest payments. It is feared that the government will bring in a mini-budget after talks with the IMF, he feared.
