KARACHI: The Supreme Court Karachi registry on Thursday declared the K-Electric’s Mehmoodabad grid station illegal and ordered its demolition.
The court remarked that the K-Electric’s grid station is constructed on a greenbelt, which is illegal. The grid station should be demolished within two months, the court ruled.
Earlier, the apex court heard a petition filed by a citizen against the grid station.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court that 10 acres land was allocated for a greenbelt, which has been encroached upon by the grid station. The PECHS Society had given the greenbelt to K-Electric wheres the society has nothing to do with the greenbelt as it is owned by KMC.
