Russia blames West, Kyiv for Moscow concert hall attack

Amid repeated claims of responsibility by Islamic State, the Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has alleged that the US, UK and Ukraine were behind the Moscow concert hall attack.

At least 139 people were killed in Friday’s terrorist attack in concert hall in suburbs of Moscow.

FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and other Russian officials were insisting that the US, UK and Ukraine were behind the deadly attack.

Ukraine has vehement denied its involvement in the attack while an affiliate of the Islamic State group had claimed responsibility for the attack.

President Vladimir Putin also leveled similar allegations despite acknowledging that the arrested suspects were ‘Islamists’.

The IS affiliate had claimed responsibility for carrying out the attack while the US intelligence also it had information confirming the group was responsible.

On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron claimed France also has intelligence that IS entity carried out the deadly attack. However, President Putin insisted that Ukraine was involved.

Earlier, four men accused of attacking concert outside Moscow have been charged with terrorism.

The appeared in a court showing signs of severe beating.

At least 137 people – three children among them – were killed and 182 injured in the attack. Sources said that condition of about 40 injured is critical.

Basmanny District Court of Moscow identified the four accused as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, 32; Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, 30; Shamsidin Fariduni, 25; and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, 19.

All the suspects are citizens of Tajikistan. They were charged with committing a group terrorist attack resulting in the death of others. The crime carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The court ordered to hold the suspects in pre-trial custody until May 22.
