Roads, nullahs clear despite heavy rain in North Nazimabad: Chairman Atif Ali

After rainfall, efforts were underway across Karachi to drain rainwater from the city’s main arteries today.

North Nazimabad Town Chairman Atif Ali Khan has said that the municipal staff was busy in clearing rainwater from city roads.

The town chairman said he visited various areas of the town, including KDA Chowrangi and various blocks of North Nazimabad and reviewed the ongoing work to drain out rainwater from there.

Atif Ali Khan appreciated the municipal staff working to deal with the rain situation.

He said that the main arteries and nullahs are clear despite heavy rain continued since morning.

On the other hand, Karachi Mayor Wahab took to X, formerly known as twitter, and said that the all staff of the KMC, Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board were present on the ground to deal with the rain situation.

Meanwhile, rain is continued in various parts of the city, including Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Landhi, Maripur, Gulistan-e-Johar, Airport and Malir.

The Met Office said that maximum rainfall of 22.1 millimeter was recorded at Nazimabad.

According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, the rain is caused under the influence of western system.

Sardar Sarfaraz said that the rain would continue intermittently till the tomorrow morning. After the rain, the temperature is also expected to drop. According to the Chief Meteorologist, the second spell of western winds will enter on April 17. The winds in the second system will enter Karachi from the coastal areas of Balochistan and likely to cause heavy rains.

The Meteorological Department further said there is a possibility of rain with thunder in Karachi on April 18 and 19.
