Relief operation in quake-hit areas gains momentum

On the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, relief operation has gained full momentum in earthquake-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

Relief goods have been dropped in upper Kohistan valleys. More than seven thousand five hundred tents, twelve thousand blankets, two thousand mats and over eleven thousand food packages have been distributed among the affected people so far.

The Punjab government has also sent fifty relief trucks to different areas of KPK.

Two PAF C-130 aircraft carrying relief goods for the earthquake affected areas landed at Chitral today.

One of planes airlifted around 18,000 pounds of dry ration which was donated by Pakistan Air Force.

The other C-130 aircraft airlifted approximately 16,000 pounds of relief goods donated by National Disaster Management Authority for the earthquake affectees of Chitral.

On their way back to PAF Base Nur Khan, they also evacuated the injured from Chitral.

The KPK government has released Rs3 billion for relief and rehabilitation activities in earthquake affected areas.
