Imran Khan calls upon nation to protect freedom, democracy

Karachi: Nasim Akhtar, president of the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI), has hailed the Rs. 1100 billion “Karachi Package” announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan for the development of Karachi, which is the economic & financial hub of Pakistan. The industrial community expressed full confidence over PM Imran Khan and assured all possible cooperation.

In a statement, NKATI President said that the announcement of this package would be important in resolving the grievances of the people of Karachi to rebuild the dilapidated infrastructure of the city and solve the problems of the masses on priority basis.

Nasim Akhtar further said that in the meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, he had requested him to visit Karachi at least twice a month and convene meetings with the genuine leadership of the business community so that PM could get a detailed understanding of the real issues. Because if the Prime Minister himself will not oversee the resolution of Karachi’s problems, it will be difficult to complete his vision of making Karachi an attractive city for investment.

“Karachi, despite giving the highest revenue to the national exchequer, was helpless. The city has always been neglected and no action has been taken except for rhetoric, which can be gauged from the devastating situation in Karachi due to the recent torrential rains”, he added. Whether it is streets, roads, due to lack of non-effective drainage system and dilapidated infrastructure, Karachi appeared to be submerged in rainwater which caused a lot of damages to the people here which needs to be remedied.

Nasim Akhtar opined that taking responsibility by Prime Minister Imran Khan for resolving the problems of Karachi on a permanent basis is very hopeful for the people of Karachi and Images for reconstruction of roads, solving the transport problems, improvement of sewerage system, supply of clean water, especially the transformation of the Sindh Building Control Authority into the Karachi Building Control Authority, will also help solve the problems of the city.

NKATI President hoped that the Prime Minister Imran Khan would fulfill his promises and will ensure transparent use of the Rs 1100 billion “Karachi Package” for the development of Karachi so that Karachiites can get relief.
