LONDON: The sale of new vehicles running on petrol and diesel will be banned from 2030 in the UK.

According to the Financial Times report, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is likely to announce the historic decision next week in his speech on environmental policy.

The British government voices hope that the ban on petroleum cars will boost the market for electric cars in the United Kingdom.

The initiative is being taken to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

Earlier, it was planned to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035.
