The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the acquittal of former prime minister in the Toshakhana vehicle reference.

The National Accountability Bureau had submitted the compliance report on including Nawaz Sharif in investigation in a reference related to Toshakhana vehicles.

The NAB report said that the Saudi government had given the car to the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif as a gift in 1997.

It further stated that in 2008, the then prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani offered Nawaz Sharif to buy a car. To which, Nawaz Sharif bought the car from the federal transport pool and not from Toshakhana and that the former prime minister did not make the payment for the car from a fake bank account.

Nawaz Sharif deposited the gifted car in the Toshakhana and at the time of purchase, the car was not part of the Toshakhana, the report added.

NAB officials said, in the report, that the accountability court can acquit the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana reference.
