Musharraf treason case: Court issues show-cause notice to Interior Ministry

RAWALPINDI: A special court has issued show-cause notice to Interior Ministry for not providing details of assets of former president Pervez Musharraf in treason case.

As per details, a bench of a special court which was headed by Justice Mian Mazhar Alam Miankhel and comprised of Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali heard the case against former president and military chief on Tuesday.

During the hearing, Miankhel said that there was no need of counsel for the defense after the court declared Musharraf, an absconder.

Justice Miankhel remarked that Interior Ministry is the petitioner however, no details have been provided in the matter so far.

The court, besides Interior Ministry, also issued notice to Federal Investigation Agency and summoned details of Musharraf’s assets once again.

The court rejected Interior Ministry’s unconditional apology, extended by its legal representatives in the court and adjourned the hearing until July 19.
