Markets to be closed at 8:30 PM, marriage halls at 10:00 PM from today: Govt

Islamabad: The government has announced to close markets by 8:30 PM and marriage halls by 10:00 PM with the view preserve energy.

This was announced by federal ministers while giving a media briefing after the Federal Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the decision is effective from today.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that 30% reduction in electricity consumption of government institutions will be brought, this project will save 62 billion rupees annually.

Khawaja Asif said that when the offices and markets are closed all over the world, Pakistan’s routine is different from that, here the markets and restaurants remain open until one or two o’clock, the same is the case with the offices, we need to change our lifestyle. Yes, our habits and customs are different from the rest of the world.

He said that electric fans will not be produced after July 1. We use 29,000 megawatts of electricity in summer, 17,000 megawatts more than in winter. We use 12,000 megawatts in winter. To avoid heat, we use 18,000 megawatts of electricity, out of which only fans use 12,000 megawatts. Electricity consumption should be reduced.

Khawaja Asif said that from February 1, filament bulbs that consume more electricity will not be produced. This will save Rs22 billion while all government institutions will install efficient devices to save electricity, banning ineffective devices.
