JC open hearing adjourns for one week

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission (JC) open hearing to probe alleged rigging in last general election was adjourned for one week.

Earlier, The JC three member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir Ul Mulk along with Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan conducted open hearing for the first time.

Hamid Ali Khan has been appointed as the commission’s secretary while K K Agha was appointed as amicus curiae to assist the commission on the matter.

At the outset, the commission barred political parties to give any statement over the proceedings of the commission.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan also appeared before the JC.

On the appeal of the PTI, the JC has seek reply from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The commission also has instructed all the political parties of the country to submit all evidences and facts regarding rigging within one week.

The head of the JC Nasir Ul Mulk has ordered National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA) to submit forensic reports of 37 constituencies within three days.

Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk said that the commission has so far received 21 applications from the political parties and 47 individual requests to become party in the hearing.

He said that the commission would make public its report, adding the commission would not do anything against the law.
