The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is likely to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Army Chief Herzi Halevi and Defence Minister Yoav Galant.

According to media reports, the Israeli government has received indications that an arrest warrant has been issued by top legal officials.

The International Court of Justice is investigating Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.

The ICJ prosecutor is considering issuing arrest warrants this week for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Galant and Israeli Army Chief Herzi Halevi.

Israeli media also say that Prime Minister Netanyahu is scared and under extraordinary pressure over the reports of the arrest warrant.

The Israeli foreign minister said that preventing Israel from defending itself is an open demand for the destruction of Tel Aviv. Issuing of warrants for the Israeli leadership will harm the country’s soldiers, he added.

The Israeli foreign minister alleged that Hamas was using the population of Gaza as human shields.

Meanwhile, in a bid to avert possible arrest warrants, senior government officials held an emergency meetings in Tel Aviv and discussed strategy to deal with the situation.
