New York: Human Rights Watch has asked United Nation’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Put Israel on annual “List of Shame” of children’s rights violators. The HRW stated that 539 children were killed and 2959 injured in Gaza by the Israeli forces last year.

The HRW delegating called on UN secretary General Ban Ki-moon to put Israel on the list which would be released next week.

Human Rights Watch Crisis Advocacy Director Philippe Bolopion said that the Secretary-General Ban could strengthen child protection in war by compiling his list based on facts, not on political pressure.

The current list has 51 groups including Boko Haram and Islamic State as well as the armed forces from eight countries such as Syria, Yemen, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.

UNICEF said that last year Israel killed 539 children and injured 2959 in Gaza. The UN children’s agency said that most of the injured children were then facing trauma and life-long disabilities.
