HONG KONG: Shares soared more than one percent in Hong Kong morning trade Monday, tracking gains in New York and Europe, as financial firms were boosted by easing worries about the future of Germany’s Deutsche Bank.

The Hang Seng index added 1.24 percent, or 289.07 points, to 23,586.22 by the break.

Mainland Chinese markets are closed for a public holiday.
