Heart of Asia Conference kicks-off in Islamabad

Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference begins in Islamabad today (Wednesday).

The conference is aimed at promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan and strengthening regional economic cooperation and connectivity.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani would jointly inaugurate the moot.

It is expected to be participated by high-ranking delegations from 14 states, 17 supporting countries and 12 international and regional organizations.

The Conference is expected to adopt a forward looking Islamabad Declaration entitled “Enhanced Cooperation for Countering Security Threats and Promoting Connectivity in the Heart of Asia Region”.

A colourful display of culture of different areas of Pakistan was presented at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) for the delegates of 5th Heart of Asia -Istanbul conference.

Advisor Sartaj Aziz informally exchanged views on this occasion with the Indian Minister for External Affairs and other foreign ministers.
