Hearing of case against Ishaq Dar adjourned till Oct 12

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court (AC) of Islamabad Wednesday adjourned hearing of a reference against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, regarding assets beyond known sources of income till October 12.

The court also recorded the statement of a NAB witness Ishtiaq Ali and also summoned two others including Tariq Javed and Shahid Aziz on next date of hearing to testify.

Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir picked up the reference against Ishaq Dar filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in compliance of Supreme Court orders in Panama papers case judgment.

As the hearing began, the NAB witness Ishtiaq Ali presented some documents regarding the case and recorded his statement before court.

During cross-examine, Khawaja Haris asked from the witness about the record of accounts upon which NAB also wrote a letter.

Ishtiaq Ali replied that he possesses the record as well as the photocopy of the letters.

Counsel for Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Haris completed cross-examining with the NAB’s witness.

On which, the court also summoned two other witnesses in the case on next date of hearing.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar appeared before the court for third time here along with State Minister for CAAD Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha and Minister of State for IT Anusha Rehman.

It may be mentioned here that during last hearing NAB had filed a list comprising 28 witnesses in accountability court who would testify against finance minister in this case.

The accountability court had indicted Ishaq Dar on September 27 and summoned the two witnesses to testify.

The finance minister had denied all charges that were levelled against him terming them false, and submitted surety bonds worth five million rupees as per directions of the court to ensure his attendance.

The NAB reference was filed against Mr. Dar on September 8 on directives of the apex court in Panama papers case.
