Govt to submit written answer for conducting census

Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Federal government to submit a written answer within two weeks over not conducting census.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali led two member bench conducted the hearing of a suo moto notice on census case in the Supreme Court where additional attorney general appeared before the court on behalf of the government.

A report was submitted in the court regarding census in which government stated that it is ready to hold census, but due to Army’s busy schedule it has been delaying.

The army has been busy on different operations at the moment, while about 0.167 million troops are required to conduct census, government stated in the report.

On this occasion the CJP said we have nothing to do with the paper work, all we want is the time frame that when government is conducting census?

Following the argument, the court ordered the attorney general to submit a written answer in the court within two weeks.
