‘Free Palestine’: US Airman attempts suicide outside Israeli Embassy

An United States Air Force’s active duty member has attempted suicide after setting himself on fire in front of Israeli Embassy yelling ‘Free Palestine’.

The incident occurred in Washington was responded by the Metropolitan Police Department.

In a video of the incident, the serviceman identified himself as Aaron Bushnell.

Bushnell said: “I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

He put the recording device on the ground and poured  an unknown liquid over himself. He yelled “Free Palestine” repeatedly before collapsing.

Police officers rushed to scene and intervened to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers.

US Air Force spokesperson Rose Riley said that he can confirm an active duty Airman was involved in today’s incident.

Aaron Bushnell was shifted to a local hospital by the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.

An Israeli Embassy spokesperson said that no embassy staff were injured and all are safe.

The US Secret Service had extinguished the fire, according to a public information officer from DC Fire.

MPD said it is working along with the Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to probe the incident.
