FBR exceeds tax collection target by Rs2 billion

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has exceeded its monthly target with a margin of just Rs2 billion as the board collected Rs443 billion in February 2022, due to rising imports, compared to the aim of Rs441 billion.

Now the FBR’s collection is Rs3,799 billion during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

The FBR with the view to achieve the upward revised target of Rs6.1 trillion would have to collect Rs2.3 trillion in the last four months (March-June) of the financial year.

The Board’s tax collection target was increased to Rs6.1 trillion from Rs5.8 trillion by the end of June 2022 under the IMF agreement.

The increased imports had helped FBR to exceed its set target. During the past two months, the Board had failed to get its monthly target. But in February it surpassed the target with a slight margin of just Rs2 billion.
