RAWALPINDI: An anti-narcotics court on Saturday expressed resentment over absence of prosecution’s witnesses in Ephedrine quota case against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.

Judge Chaudhry Anwar Ahmed was hearing the case regarding illegal drug, Ephedrine’s quota.

The hearing saw completion of cross examination of prosecution’s witness Dr Razia Zahid by counsel for the defendant, Sardar Ishaq. However, as many as four witnesses summoned by the court from Karachi did not appear.

The court reissued summons and ordered authorities concerned to make their presence certain in the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned until November 28.

It should be mentioned here that a case was registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Hanif Abbasi and several others including his brother on July 27, 2012 for illegal use of at least 500 Kilograms (Kg) of Ephedrine.

Besides Abbasi brothers, others nominated in the case are their business partners namely Ahmad Bilal, Nazakat Khan, Nasir Khan, Ghazanfar Ali and Rana Mohsin.
