ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that elections for the vacant Senate seats cannot be held 30 days in advance as per the constitution.

A statement issued by the Election Commission said that half of the members of the Senate will retire on March 11 and according to the Constitution, elections cannot be held 30 days earlier on the seats which are vacant after the expiry of their term.

Elections to these vacant seats cannot be held before February 10, 2021, the ECP added.
