KARACHI: PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded international organizations and IMF to give targeted subsidies to the country.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto released funds in Karachi for the construction of flood victims’ houses. Addressing the Sindh Donor Conference, the PP Chairman said that the discussion between the Finance Minister and the IMF is going on at the moment, hopefully good results will come. It is necessary for our economy, he added.

He said that the IMF should help and take care of the people who are drowning in water and inflation. We want targeted relief for the flood affected areas. There should be relief for agriculture, energy and fertilizer for food, which will be possible when IMF conditions are relaxed.

Bilawal Bhutto said that people thought that we would return empty-handed from the Geneva conference. But as a result of Pakistan’s successful foreign policy, we got more than any agreement we made.

He said that we need $1.5 billion for the construction of houses, of which the World Bank has given 500 million dollars and the Sindh government has arranged to provide $250 million, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also given $250 million.

Bilawal Bhutto said that now we are not only building houses, but we are also making the flood victims the owners of the houses.

The foreign minister said that due to heavy rains and floods, Sindh province became a 100 km long lake. This flood was the doomsday before the doomsday. The Secretary General personally inspected the disaster scenes and appealed for international support, he said.
