Babar Azam named ICC

Reinstated white-ball captain Babar Azam is on the verge of achieving another milestone as Pakistan gear up for five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

The series will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore later in April.

With 42 victories to his name as a captain, Babar Azam is currently at the second spot with most number of victories to his name – levelling with England legend Eoin Morgan.

Uganda’s Brian Masaba holds the record of most victories as captain with 44.

If Pakistan win the series against New Zealand, Babar Azam will become the most successful captain in the shortest format of the game.

Apart from that, the prolific batter could also break Aaron Finch’s record of most runs as captain. He is currently second in the list with 2195 runs in 71 matches averaging 37.84.

Australia legend Aaron Finch scored 2236 runs at an average of 32.40 in 76 games. Babar is just 41 runs to break the record.

Moreover, he is just 340 runs away from becoming the leading runs getter in T20Is.

Currently standing at 3,698 runs in T20I cricket, Babar is trailing closely behind Virat Kohli (4,037) and Rohit Sharma (3,974) in the list of top scorers in T20I cricket.
