ISLAMABAD: Former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide has held secret meetings with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to restore relationship with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), it is learnt.

Pakistan Peoples Party is trying to be active against the government once again from the platform of PDM.

In this connection, Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide Senator Qayyum Soomro met Maulana Fazlur Rehman three times in recent days. The future of PDM and differences between PPP and PML-N were discussed in the meetings.

Sources said that Qayyum Soomro conveyed the message of Asif Ali Zardari to Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He asked to the PDM chief to move ahead recognising Yousuf Raza Gilani as an opposition leader in the Senate. Maulana Fazlur Rehman is still unhappy with the PPP on the election of Gilani as opposition leader in the Upper House.
