LAHORE: Legenday legspinner Abdul Qadir said appointing a coach is wastage of money.

The former leg-spinner is of the opinion said that the captain should have the entire authority and the amount saved to be spent on improving domestic cricket and on the welfare of former cricketers, Umpires and the ground staff.

He demanded ICC to stop the practice of sending coaches to other countries.

In an interview Abdul Qadir said, in cricket the coach hardly has any role to play, therefore I would like to ask PCB, do the players really need a coach who have been playing for long periods? This is just a waste of money and nothing else.

Abdul Qadir said, hiring of foreign coaches has been a bitter experience and failure in Pakistan.

Richard Pybus, Bob Woolmer, Geoff Lawson and Dav Whatmore could not make us win a single title. The winning squad of the World cup during 1992 and 2009 were managed and led by coach/manager Intekhab Alam.
