App for stray dogs’ complaints developed

A mobile app has been developed for the complaint of stray dogs.

Also, Helpline 1093 for reporting dog bite incidents has been reinstated.

This has been told to Sindh High Court during an hearing of a case concerning stray dogs and non-availability of ant-rabies vaccine today.

The Project Director Anti-Rabies Control Program submitted a written reply to the court, stating Helpline 1093 for reporting dog bite incidents has also been reinstated.

According to the reply, from January 2022 to March 2024, more than 19,000 dogs were vaccinated, rabies control centers were set up in four districts and rules were made to control the growing population of stray dogs in the city.

It was also stated that dog population control centers will be established in every district of the province. On February 29, a notification to establish dog population control centers in every district had also been issued, it added.

A mobile app has also been created for the complaint of stray dogs and bite incidents. The app will be restored for the public after Ramazan.

The report said that citizens can file complaints about stray dogs with their photo and address. Vaccination of stray dogs is underway, the report added.

The high court adjourned hearing till May 4.
