Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) admitted before the Election Commission that there was foreign funding from the United States, but said that Imran Khan’s clear instructions to fund-raising agents in the United States were to obtain funding only from non prohibited sources.

In a written reply submitted to the Election Commission, the PTI has said that if any agent deposits money against the instructions and does not give details to the party, then PTI is not responsible.

According to the PTI’s written reply, the agents had given an affidavit stating that they had followed the party’s policy of raising funds.

Akbar S. Babar, the petitioner in the case, said that earlier PTI believed that it had not received any illegal funding from the United States, now it is blaming the agents for the illegal funding.

The Election Commission Scrutiny Committee reserved its decision on whether the documents were correct or incorrect.
