Cow lynching in India

India, the so-called secular country has completely failed to protect lives of Muslims, Christians and other minorities.

The country has turned into an hard line Hindu state, where minorities are being killed in the name of ‘cow protection’.

In the latest example of Hindu radicalism, a Christian tribal named Prakash Lakra was lynched with swords, sickles and iron sticks while he was skinning a dead ox in Jharkhand state.

Three other men were also injured in the attack

A Reuters report says a total of 63 cow vigilante attacks had occurred between 2010 and mid 2017, mostly since the Modi govt came to power in 2014. In these attacks, 24 Muslims were killed and 124 injured.

Hindu vigilante groups have become emboldened since his BJP swept to power in 2014.

Modi is applying the laws about cow slaughter more strictly, increasing punishments.

Last week, a Muslim man was brutally assaulted by a mob in north eastern Assam state over allegations he was selling beef. There is no prohibition on cow slaughter or beef consumption in the state.
