LAHORE: Acting Ameer, of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch, has said that the nation failed to understand the contours of PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s policy of reconciliation in the light of his latest move.
Ina statement here today, he said that as the leader of the PPP, Mr Zardari has the right to decide any strategy for party politics. However, if the policy of reconciliation was aimed at strengthening democracy and the constitution and for checking the interference of supra constitutional forces, the previous policy should not have been abandoned. But if that was not the case, the masses would be bound to hold the view that the reconciliation was simply meant to protect corruption.
Liaquat Baloch said that the politics during the 90s was full of intreagues, palace conspiracies and violation of the constitution.
