MONTEVIDEO: A fire at a Uruguayan nursing home killed seven elderly residents Monday, authorities said.
The four women and three men died when the fire ripped through the two-story facility in the capital Montevideo just before dawn, fire chief Leandro Palomeque told AFP.
Firefighters brought the flames under control and are investigating the cause, he said.
