The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is all set to announce the shortlist for their latest Ultimate Team of the Year on Tuesday.
Ahead of the reveal, UEFA.com has gone back through the archives to compile an all-time XI from previous ultimate teams.
It’s hard to argue with the quality of the XI, but some may raise an eyebrow at Steven Gerrard earning a place in the midfield over the likes of Zinedine Zidane or even Paul Scholes. There’s no room in the defence for the likes of Paolo Maldini either.
Zidane, however, does make the substitutes’ bench, which also includes Gigi Buffon, John Terry, Kaka, Pavel Nedved, Ronaldinho and the mighty Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Expected XI are: Henry, Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Gerrard, Lahm, Puyol, Nesta, Ramos and Casillas.
