TTP claims responsibility of assassinating MPA Shamshad, son

KAMOKE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Taliban has claimed the responsibility of assassinating Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) Shamshad Ahmed Khan and his son at his residence in Kamoke, a tehsil of Gujranwala district of Punjab province.

According to local news channel, Taliban spokesman Mohammad Khorasani said that the attack on the legislator was carried out by militants belonging to the proscribed group.

It is pertinent to mention here that unidentified assailants on motorcycle gunned down Punjab legislator Rana Shamshad and his son while moving from farm house to his residence situated in Kamoke tehsil of Gujranwala on Sunday night.

Rescue teams reached the location and shifted the dead bodies to the nearby hospital.

Slain Rana Shamshad is affiliated with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and elected as Member of Provincial Assembly from PP-100 constituency during 2013 general election.

Police have rushed the location and cordoned off whole area.

Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and called up report by the authorities.
