LAHORE: Death toll due to toxic sweets have risen to 25, while several others are still hospitalized in Layyah.
Umar Hayat, a resident of Layyah area, bought the sweets on April 17 to distribute among friends and family after birth of his grandson.
The death toll from consumption of the sweets has now risen to 25, a local police official said, adding that 52 people are still being treated at various hospitals.
The worker may have inadvertently added pesticide to the sweet mix.
