ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Textiles Mills Association (APTMA) refused to withdraw strike call on August 7, 2015 against the government.

The refusal was made after failure of the dialogue phase between the government and APTMA over making reduction in load shedding and power tariff.

According to report, APTMA delegation called on by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar where the delegation demanded reduction in power tariff and reviewing of Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC). However, the government rejected to accept the demands, reports said.

While talking to local media, APTMA chairman S. M. Tanvir said that power tariffs for textile industry in Pakistan is higher than any other country that is creating barricades to run the textile industries.

Prime Minister’s special advisor for revenue Haroon Akhtar said that power tariff could not be changed for a specific industry. He expressed hopes that the issues would be resolved by next week.
