Taliban recapture parts of Kunduz from govt

KUNDUZ: Taliban have reclaimed large parts of Kunduz city from the Afghan government as the grappling for control over the area goes on.

Earlier, the government forces had claimed that they had made gains of key locations in the city, which has been reportedly shortlived.

An international media reported on Monday that Taliban fighters launched counter-attacks, driving back the government forces out of the areas they had gained control of.

Residents in Kunduz have told that more than 100 people have died and injured are stuck in their homes due to the fighting.

Even with the deployment of 7,000 troops and US-led NATO support the government is still unable to retake the strategic city.

A Kunduz residents, who just escaped the city to Puli Khumri, also confirmed that Taliban fighters have taken over civilians homes, and have refused to let residents leave.
