Sunni Tehreek leaders detained then released in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh personnel detained then released two top leaders of Sunni Tehreek (ST) Sarwat Ejaz Qadri and Shahid Ghouri in the early hours of Monday.

According to details, the Sunni Tehreek (ST) chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri and senior leader Shahid Ghouri were arrested as they visited the Rangers headquarters for a meeting about their arrested members.

It must be noted that Rangers personnel have earlier detained dozens of ST members in a raid on June 18 while a similar raid on yesterday ended in confiscation of some important documents.

Later, while talking to media, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri denied the reports of arrest and inquiry adding that ST supports the Karachi operation against terrorists, extortionists.

Qadri further said that if his party is involved in illegal activities, he is ready to cooperate.
