Suicide blast kills 24 in Afghanistan

KABUL: At least 24 people have been killed in a suicide car bomb explosion in the capital of Afghanistan.

A security official said initially reports indicate the blast was triggered by a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).

The official further added that the incident has taken place in the vicinity of Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Finance compounds in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan.

A police official confirmed that the target of the blast was a compound of the Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area.
