LAHORE: Leading the Jamaat e islami’s Long March from Khyber to Islamabad amidst torrential rain on Tuesday, the Jamaat e Islami Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq gave the government a deadline of December 31 for bringing the FATA in the national mainstream.

Thousands of tribal people joined the long march which took three days to reach the federal capital despite heavy rain and extreme cold. People from all the tribal agencies participated in the long march which entered Islamabad through Faizabad.

Addressing the participants at the China Chowk near Jinnah Avenue, Sirajul Haq announced that a permanent “Tent Village would be  set up from the start of the new year with the lock out of the Presidency and the Prime Minister House.  However, he said, that Islamabad and Rawalpindi would remain open and there won’t be any problem for the citizens. .

Sirajul Haq said that the tribal people wanted the rule of the constitution and the law in their area of which they had been deprived for the last seventy years. He said if the rulers were not ready to bring FATA in the national mainstream, they should impose FCR all over the country so that there was uniformity of the law.

He said the rulers were not announcing FATA’s merger as they were afraid of any action from India or Afghanistan. He said that tribal areas were part of this country and not of India or Afghanistan.

He said that the people of tribal areas were deprived of clean drinking water, basic education and health facilities and employment. There were no law courts to dispense justice to them as the Political Agent was the real ruler and enjoyed full powers.
