KARACHI / ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government kept complete silence over another extension of Rangers’ exclusive powers despite a letter for summary sent by the federal government.

Rangers’ exclusive powers will be ended on February 3, 2016; however, the Interior Ministry will itself issue notification for extension if the provincial government failed to send the summary.

Government sources said that the Interior Ministry dispatched a letter five days ago to the provincial home ministry but it was not answered as yet. Moreover, the Interior Ministry decided to extend Rangers’ powers by formal approval of the Prime Minister if requisition from the Sindh government was not received.

It should be mentioned here that the last extension was made for two months which was made effective from December 6 – 2015.
