LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the Sindh government’s  dilly dallying regarding the Karachi Operation was harming the efforts for peace and stability in the entire province, especially Karachi.

Talking to JI workers and notables of Gujrat city at the wedding of the sons of Al-Khidmat Foundation President Abdul Shakoor and former district chief of the JI Syed Ehsanullah Shah on Sunday, he said the Sindh government wanted both operation and corruption to continue.

He said the Karachi could be purged of crime and lawlessness only if the federal government, the provincial government and the armed forces were on one page. He said that the Sindh government’s attitude in regard to the operation was incomprehensible as the captain of the operation wanted to  throw his men in the sea packed with crocodiles with their hands tied.

He said that everybody wanted an operation of his own liking that suited him. He said that such an exercise only caused dissention and the actual criminals managed to escape.   owever, he said,

Sirajul Haq said that the PPP’s reservations on the Rangers operation surfaced only in the case of Dr Asim because earlier it had been extending all out support to the operation. He counseled the PPP not to make the operation a point of prestige and give preference to the restoration of lasting peace in the mega city as it would be a source of satisfaction for the people all over the country.

The JI chief said that the government enjoying heavy mandate had burdened the masses with price spiral. He said the IMF was forcing the rulers to raise the prices of some commodity at the time of the approval of a fresh installment of loan. He said that from next month, the price of gas was being  enhanced to an alarming level.

He said the prevailing system only suited the elite who were maintaining the status quo simply  to serve their interests while the masses were there only to pay taxes and utilities bills.

He said that a system based on injustice and oppression never brought peace and comfort to the oppressors and they too were deprived of real calm and the country continued to face crises one after the other.
