Sindh govt decides to close schools, parks, hotels amid spike in Covid cases

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Wednesday decided to close schools, parks, hotels and other recreational places in the wake of surge in coronavirus cases.

The decision was made during the meeting of the provincial task force  on coronavirus held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Murad  Ali Shah to review the Covid situation in the province.

The health secretary briefed the meeting that the Covid positivity rate is 7.4 per cent in the province. He said that more than 5 per cent positivity rate is considered as dangerous.

The task force decided to ban indoor dining from tomorrow night (Thursday). It added that the classes from nursery to middle level will be suspended from Friday while only examinations for Class IX and above will be allowed to be held.

The meeting also decided to close recreational places including Sea View and Hawks Bay and gymnasiums in the province.
