SIMs issued on expired CNICs to be blocked in Pakistan

The government has decided to block the subscriber identity module (SIM) cards issued on the expired computerized national identity cards (CNICs).

The decision was made by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi while chairing a meeting at the Nadra headquarters today.

The top minister for the country’s internal affairs issued directives, during the meeting, to block SIM cards that are issued on expired CNICs.

Naqvi also directed for building model Nadra offices across the country on the pattern of model police stations in Punjab. The minister was of the view that the establishment of model police stations in Punjab improved the image of the police along with the convenience of the people.

Fee for death certificate is being abolished, he said and added a simple system should be introduced for birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates in collaboration with union council offices.

He directed to ensure the complete security of citizens’ data and to provide more facilities on mobile platforms for the convenience of masses. Social media should be used effectively to promote the organization’s initiatives, he stressed.
