Shutdown in IOK against civilian killings

Complete shutdown is being observed today, against the killing of three civilians including a woman in the unprovoked firing of Indian troops on peaceful protesters in Handwara town in the held valley of Kashmir.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, strike call has been given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The call has been given as protest against rhe killing of three Kashmiris. Two youth, Mohammad Iqbal, 22, Nayeem Qadir Butt, 21 and a 70-year old woman Raja Begum were killed when the troops opened indiscriminate fire on the people who were protesting against the molestation of a girl by the troops in Handwara area on Tuesday.

The authorities have imposed curfew in Srinagar and Handwara to prevent people from staging protests against the killings. All entry and exit points of Handwara have been sealed.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have put all Hurriyet leaders under house arrest or behind the bars to prevent them from visiting Handwara and expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs.

In Handwara, Indian police arrested dozens of youth following forceful demonstrations over the molestation of the girl and the killing of civilians.
