Sec 144: Over 30 protesters nabbed outside Sindh Assembly

Police have arrested over 30 people protesting outside the Sindh Assembly building against alleged rigging in the general elections.

According to details, the arrested people – several women among them- have been transferred to an unknown location.

The first session of the Sindh Assembly after the general elections is underway in which the newly-elected members of the assembly took oath.

Strict security arrangements have been taken around the Sindh Assembly while Section 144 is also imposed in the city.

Various roads of Karachi, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, have been closed for traffic due to which the citizens are facing difficulties.

It should be noted that the Grand Democratic Alliance, Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam are staging a sit-in outside the provincial assembly, while the sit-ins are also going on at different places in city.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s sit-in is also continue at the Karachi Toll Plaza and workers have closed the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway for traffic.

The Secretary General of JUI-F says that we want to stage a sit-in at the Sindh Assembly as peaceful protest is our constitutional right.

Allama Rashid Soomro said that the IGP should tell us under which law we are not being allowed to enter the city.
