SC orders to combine PTI, MQM resignations petitions

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued the notices to as many as 97 respondents including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other high level officials in a case pertaining to resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers from the National Assembly.

The notices were issued to as many as 97 respondents including Prime minister, leader of the opposition Khursheed Shah and National Assembly Speaker.

Three member bench three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali issued the notices during the hearing of different petitions regarding the PTI and MQM lawmakers’ resignations.

The petitions were filed by former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Zafar Ali Shah.

During the hearing, the top court ordered to combine all the petitions as one case. The hearing was adjourned indefinitely.
